A glimpse of the ancient Indian way of life ...Vedic, historical, philosophical and metaphysical perspective..

India , known as Bharat , from the time immemorial developed spirit of learning and a quest for in-ward knowledge to lead a well balanced and harmonious life . The very essence and foundation of this finds it’s roots in ancient texts ( chanting verses) called Vedas , Upanishads , veda-anga ( sub branches) , epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat and divine sermon Bhagavad Gita etc. Sages of ancient India clearly tried to find out the very purpose of one’s life and various ways of achieving it. The existence of the entire universe , “vishwam” was formed with living and non living beings along with the basic and essential forces to support life namely “pancha bhoota”. These are earth ( pruthvi), air ( vayu), water ( jal), fire ( Agni) and sky( Akash). These form the composition of the universe and was treated with divinity . Various mythological stories namely Puranas were mentioned in order to explain the importance of these to common folk . Upanishads ( Isha, kena, katha, mandukya, brihadaranyaka, taittariya etc..)are treasure house of knowledge and learnt wisdom passed through generations in Sanskrit verses( very old sacred language ) explaining the existence , knowledge and bliss. Vedangas namely shiksha,kalpa, vyakarana, nirukta, chandas, jyotisha explain various skills in language, rituals, grammar, etymology , metrics and Astro studies for further support of this .
What formed the basis of the ancient Indian way of life? Well, from the outer look we find many tenets, religious principles, beliefs and such.. . But , a deep insight takes us to various sources of spiritual knowledge and thoughts ,which were imbibed and clearly reflect in the living . This was universally known as “ Ancient Indian thought” ……………….
